The excellent VIVAX VLOC Pro Locator kit has continued to sell very well and set a new standard in the industry for performance and reliability and is standard issue across the mines, utilities and many contractors. The VLOC Pro2has now been released and has some excellent upgrades. The Receiver is now even lighter, with a removeable battery cartridge that comes standard with a Li-ION rechargeable battery pack that gives long operational use plus an even brighter colour LCD display. The version 7.11 firmware has given even sharper performance to the unit and the release of MyLocator2 Software allows easy upgrading of firmware and setting internal options plus downloading of gps and depth data captured in the field.
The old Polylogger was a popular power recorder as it was waterproof and rugged - the new SONELPQM701is an excellent replacement that exceeds the spec and performance but maintains the IP65 rating plus its CATIV 600V. It will record and capture power flow and power quality data with its 4 Flexible Current Probes that allow recording of neutral current also. The comprehensive yet easy to use Sonel Analysis software allows for full graphical display and reports.
The new AEMC 6505 5KV Insulation Tester is a very affordable unit with AEMC's high quality design rugged case and high performance. Fully adjustable output voltage, 10 Teraohm measurement range and leakage current plus capacitance measurement make the unit ideal for testing cables, HV/LV equipment and installations without breaking the bank.
The new SEBA MFM10 Sheath Fault Location and Testing system is brilliant with a large LCD touch screen and automated measurement to make life easy. Up to 10KV output and 750ma of bipolar test current that elliminate sinterference from ground currents. It works with the ESG80 Earth Fault Pinpointing device to quickley locate sheath and ground faults. A portable wheeled rugged case for true field use and a built in 340WHr battery to give good operational use make it a very attractive package. The new SEBA Smart Thumpcable fault location set has 0-16KV output at 1500 joules which is plenty of grunt to find those faults quickly. The built in TDR captures the flashover and shows distance to fault plus it can run from internal battery or mains. The rugged wheeled frame is very portable and the Easygo Control makes operation simple. Suitable for both LV and MV cables the unit comes standard with a 15m HV output lead to allow for better access.
Another great idea from SEBA is the FAULTSNIFFER- a hand held device that can detect from metres away the presence of gases caused by cables arcing/burning, no prelocation needed. Where the gas is strongest is where the fault is. A simple pushbutton measurement in the vicinity shows the concentration of gases without any special training or knowledge.
